Packers hire Matt LaFleur as new head coach

The Green Bay Packers have hired Matt LaFleur as their new head coach. LaFleur joins the Lions’ NFC North rival as the 15th head coach in franchise history.

The 39-year-old spent 2018 as the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans, where his unit fell from 19th in scoring to 27th and dropped to 25th in yards. He comes from the Mike Shanahan coaching tree, working as an assistant (primarily QB coach) in Washington under Shanahan. He’s also worked with Mike son, Kyle, as a QB coach with the Atlanta Falcons.

Prior to joining the Titans, LaFleur spent one season as the offensive coordinator with the Rams under head coach Sean McVay.

He is a graduate of Central Michigan and coached at three different GLIAC (D-II) schools before making the jump to the NFL.
