Bevell most recently spent seven seasons as the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator from 2011-2017. He held the same role with the Minnesota Vikings from 2006-2010.
“We’re looking for someone who improves the offense,” general manager Bob Quinn said after the season ended. “We want a balanced attack that we’ve talked about before. We want to be able to run the ball and want to be able to use our quarterback, because he has a ton of talent, so we want to be diverse.”
The Lions will be the third NFC North team Bevell has worked for, as prior to his time in Minnesota he coached for the Green Bay Packers, so he’s familiar with the division.
