It was a historic night for Detroit Lions fans Sunday (Sept. 23), as head coach Matt Patricia defeated his former team and notched the motor city’s first win of the season in a rare dominating 26-10 victory against the New England Patriots in primetime. Delighted Ford Field fans were also treated to an energetic halftime performance from Lil Jon.
The Atlanta-bred rapper took over midfield on a raised stage while surrounded by a phalanx of Lions’ cheerleaders moving in unison with fierce choreography. As a captivating pyrotechnics show accompanied Jon at his back, he ran through a medley of hits such as the Grammy-winning “Yeah!” and frenetic “Turn Down for What.”
Prior to hitting the field, Lil Jon posed for a photo on the sidelines alongside the Detroit Lions mascot and Dinah Jane. The Fifth Harmony member officially began her career as a solo artist on Friday (Sept. 21) with the release of the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted single “Bottled Up.”
The Lions organization also honored Eminem prior to their week one matchup against the New York Jets (Sept. 10), where the Detroit rap titan was named an honorary captain for the night to take part in the opening coin toss prior to kick off.
