confirmed Lions meetings with prospects

It took until after the 5th Shrine Game practice session before the Detroit Lions had any personnel meet with players on the turf in Tropicana Field, but after Wednesday morning’s East team practice, the Lions did meet with a couple of players.

Lions personnel grabbed North Carolina OLB Malik Carney and Morgan State OG Joshua Miles for a quick interview after the third East session of the week.

Carney fits with Matt Patricia’s defensive scheme, a versatile backer who can rush the passer but also play against the run and short passing game in space. He has had a decent week of practices.

Miles has tremendous size but is more of a developmental prospect along the offensive line. The Los Angeles Chargers were also meeting with Miles.

I have confirmed with several other players here at the Shrine Game that they have met with the Lions at the host hotel. Among those on the East roster:

Cortez Broughton, DT, Cincinnati
Taylor Cornelius, QB, Oklahoma State
Jamal Custis, WR, Syracuse
Daniel Helm, TE, Duke
Jesper Horsted, WR, Princeton
Michael Jackson, CB, Miami FL
Jimmy Moreland, CB, James Madison
Tyree St. Louis, OT, Miami FL

It is fairly common for every team to meet with every player for an interview session.
